There are a lot of factors going against you when trying to charge distant batteries from the alternator.
1. Low alternator voltage. You're never going to get near 14.7V. Current will be tapering in no time.
2. Long charging cable equals large voltage drop.
3. Alternator lowers voltage with increasing temperature.
All these issues are solved when using an inverter.
That's great the MSW inverter works with your converters. Find a spot where the inverter stays cool.
What's the alternator's amp rating? You don't want to load it down to the point it can't maintain regulation. Sounds like a recipe for failure.
