Thanks PT that is good info. So two T-1275s (300AH) are almost as good as four 6s (464AH) for high load inverter work. I saw something of that when trying out mine even though they are not "as new" Roy's plan to get T-1275s makes sense if money is ignored :(
Maybe another route for the OP looking at footprint space
You will be happy to know that I was able to confirm the value of balancing two 12s vs having a downstream batt in the pair by observing voltage drop. Not a planned test, but arose from a temp wiring job while shuffling batteries.
With the downstream batt wiring, the voltage drop under higher loads was greater than when balanced, but after the load was turned off, voltage slowly bounced back to the same level. ( Watching the Trimetric) So it was like the first battery took the hit and then got fed back by the other to catch up.
Only saw this a couple times and did not record anything, but somebody who cares could run a test of that to confirm (or not)
