If you need four batts to get by in winter with the furnace on all the time, then in summer you have plenty of battery to do extra stuff.
Also, with solar you can run the electric kettle and let solar make up the missing AH instead of burning propane using the stove top. This can be more convenient than going to get the propane refilled so often. Lots of factors by individual situation.
