Our Iota is plugged in 24/7 and floats at 13.65 Vdc with never an issue, in fact batteries love it. I top off about once a year although I check monthly to ensure connections are tight and batteries are clean. I use Fluke VOM for trouble-shooting but have plug in AC/DC voltage meters in and outside our TT that always indicate status of DC charge or discharge and level of AC voltage drop. Nothing wrong with testing SG but since I have great results with my current set-up it rarely sees the light of day.
