ALLELECTRONICS dot com, has analog panel meters. 10VAC for $12.00

This is a stare-and-compare learning curve. Connect meter to alternator and see what the needle does and does not do when the alternator is working hard. Then if you suspect a problem, reconnect and if the needle is registering quite a bit higher, you have ripple and that means component failure within the alternator.
