Onan 7500 stator replacment

The same thing happened to our 7.5 onan a few years ago. Apparently they used inferior epoxy to secure the magnets and they came loose,tearing up almost everything in their path. An onan shop fixed it with all new parts as needed. Fortunately for us onan stepped up and paid about $2600. We were responsible for about $475 above that. The generator had about 150 hours on it and was about 4 years old. When the onan self destructed it also took out the Inverter/Converter/Charger to the tune of $475 (rebuild) plus shipping. I wasn't a happy camper.

Had this happen many years ago. The cummins facility near Atlanta took about $4200 of my funds. At that time, Onan was repairing under warranty only for the original owner. I hope you can get it repaired for much less. You might want to price a new genset for comparison.

Headed to Cummins Onan in Ocala Monday am for the 1000 hour service. Price quoted of $1095. Includes removal, replace belt, all hoses, clamps, oil, fuel, and air filters and an oil change. Bench run and operation checkout under loads. Reinstall and ops check.

My 5.5 Onan did this. Cost about $1200. Put new starter and belt while was in there.

Will be from $900 to $1400 depending on location & shop. lg2654 had a good deal with all the others services performed.

So a little update on the stator and rotor replacement. $2600.00, parts were a little over $1,800 and labor 8hrs of labor.

Anyway I did replace a stator in my old 5.5 Generac. Did it all myself and believe I spent approx. $400 for the stator, wholesale.

Ouch! Have a 7.5 Onan Diesel, as you may. Runs good and works well, but needs a new sensor, so that it will continue to run when restarted hot. Been putting it off, since it's not a real problem and with the thought, that I might have to pull it anyway for other reasons, down the road.
If like mine, you might want to look into a sensor replacement, while you're at it, but mainly for cleaning it out in there. Seems that they eventually crud up in their water jacket location and cause these kind of issues.
