Anode Rod Wear
What would cause severe wear to the rod at the connection end? Almost no wear on the rest of the rod. I use teflon tape on the threads. Two brand new rods, two years in a row.

First, you would get more responses by posting a new topic instead of a response buried in a 3 year old thread. But to your question, no. The Anode protects your WH from corrosion. It's sacrificial. If your WH is not getting hot, it's likely your heating element.
