We have traveled nearly 200,000 miles with our camper/truck. Mostly back roads, avoiding freeways as much as we can. Never got lost... We did have to stop on a dirt mountain road because a tree fell across the road... Getting turned around was scary...hahahaaa
Our GPS travel source has been Delorme Streets and Topo. on a laptop, perched between us on a Ram Mount. We also had hard copy maps to keep things honest and for a backup.
That program is the best there is. Plan a trip, modify the route.
We started using our phones for getting around in towns via Google maps etc... Works pretty good. Trying to use it for out of the way back roads and mountain trails etc forget it.
Sad that Garmin bought out Delorme and they have abandoned the whole program...
