I need to bookmark what where when and why that place in (Corona? Norco?) for panels. Looks like I will be going up by automobile around the first of the year, for medical.
It's a 240 mile drive from San Diego but such is life. Shipping costs have gotten stupid because of the cost of transportation.
  • Mono is great for a grid tied situation where you have back up when the clouds roll in, but from side be side testing with two different mono panels vs a poly, the monos produce far less in cloudy situations.

SUnElec.com is another place to look for solar panel prices, and then see what shipping is before checking out. .

    Fred.

Sunelec only has 250 watt panels in stock at $250 each and you have to order 4 of them. All the other panels listed are either out of stock or listed as pre order with no price. And shipping for the 4 panels was $275!

It looks good until you read on... there's a minimum shipment of 2, with a shipping fee of $185. It's possible to have to pay a $50 fee for ordering less than a pallet!

Plus, I don't see any mention of diodes.

Yep...$188x2 + $185 shipping +$50 break the pallet fee = $611 or $305.50 per panel. Doesn't sound that great. Plus it says its a "Poly" and not Monocrystaline. Not sure, but I though mono was the way to go?
