Other than checking for tight cable connections everywhere you don't. Everyone seems to call that wall plate a "booster" but the fact is it has no capability to amplify the signal in any way - it's not a "booster" but rather simply routes 12 vdc to the antenna head which does contain a signal amplifier. If you alternately switch to the cable input then that 12 vdc to the head is disconnected. Only if you replace that wall plate with a dedicated signal amplifier such as the
Winegard SensarPro would it then offer any ability to amplify the signal. If your antenna is a Sensar III without the additional UHF array shown in Roy's pic then you can upgrade it to Sensar IV specs by adding a
Winegard Wingman to improve UHF reception. That said, the sensitivity of the tuner in your television plays a role as well, with some performing better than others at pulling in digital signals.
