Any REAL differences here, besides the costs?

I'm in the market for two things rather quickly, first, a surge protector, second, an inverter.

I have a 2009 Navion and have had it for one year, but the last 7 months it was in storage (winter).

Here's what I found for portable surge protectors:

1. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/portable-surge-guards-with-lcd-display-30-amp/58464

2. http://www.bestconverter.com/SSP-30-30-Amp-Portable-Surge-Protector_p_507.html#.U1hDbW84QeF

I see the Surge Guards from time to time, but even at the sale price, is it really any better than the Smart Surge. Yes, I know that there's no LED display and the amount of Joules is lower on the Smart Surge, but do I really need this?

Now for the inverter. I want to be able to make coffee without using the generator, also use my computer. I thought I needed a voltage converter, but I'm told they are Inverters. So, what do you think about this brand, capacity, specs and price?

http://www.bestconverter.com/Samlex-PST-2000-12-Pure-Sine-Inverter_p_550.html#.U1hIjm84QeE

I could get a 1000 wt or 1500 wt, but...

HELP PLEASE!

Thanks!

Don't get just a "surge protector"... You need protection from a lot more stuff than just surges! DEFINITELY look at Progressive Industries - you want an "EMS" - Electrical Management System. Protects you from more common hazards like low and high voltage, improper grounds, etc. WELL worth the $250-300 to protect your even more pricey RV! ST

Yes, I ordered the EMS-HW30C EMS-HW30C 30 Amp Hardwired EMS with Remote Display
    Price: $217.50 plus 25.00 shipping

Now, I only hope I can install it!

We have Progressive Industries hard wired EMS-HW50C and a Samlex SSW-1000.
Very happy with both so far.

I was just checking those same items out, only 30amp. Yes, those seem to be the best, as far as I can tell.
    Thanks!

That's a great choice for an inverter.

I have had a Sam for a year now, and it's a good product.
  • I like progressive Industries better than Surge Guard offers more protection and lifetime warranty. Tweets has the 30 amp hard wire under $200.
