Yotta see what the modified GIGAWATT (Megawatt) looks like, now. Mr. Wizard has an email image. The Pabst fan is for a HYPERWATT. Yeah I got the inductors and heat sinks. I'm going to really try for 85 amps. Not only that, a software driven charge regulator. National Controls Corp is working out the details. Gotta have -something- challenging to do. Working on the algorithm now. Programmable. Charges ANYTHING to ANY program amperage then steps down to float. THREE count 'em thermistor sensors. One ambient, second battery, third overheat shutdown.

The volt/temp compensation thermistor is integral to a CLAMP that fits over pos or neg battery post. Clip on, clip off.

And yes. Curves are programmable including all three thermistors. Including Delta T. USB connection with NON VOLATILE MEMORY. PRAM.

I had a couple of 900 watt UPS units at work that had the micro fans die in them. It wasn't worth buying a couple of them just to have them die again. So I did the next best thing, I took a 2" hole saw right above the regulators, cut a nice hole then drilled a couple of exhaust holes. I bolted a small fan on top of the UPS and put a foam filter on top .It has worked like a champ for a few years,

My new EP PABST fan was picked up today. 120vac 18 watts. It's for the GIGAWATT cabinet. About as silent as a Huey. But hey it's a battery charger and you can bet the air inside that foot cube cabinet is going to stay cool.

I ran a 100W Halogen lamp on it for two days and it didn't even get warm. I was just inside of the fan switch-up tho. I like the soft-start function.. makes starting a controlled short (lamp) a little easier.

(later that same night)
I just plugged a 250W heat lamp into the little 300W ZAMP. It overloaded the first 1/2 sec, then immediately restarted and ramped up the voltage. Its sitting there with ~240W draw @ 115.6VAC and the inverter is barely warm after a 10 min run.

Whatever works.
First test it in open air. If it gets hot in open air then the rest is obvious

REGARDLESS
Get a 120mm .15 amp muffin fan blowing on it. Look on the side that has a row of tiny transistor holes - that is the side to play the fan on. Yes even your new inverter.this.

DPDT switch. One throw has light + switch the other just the fan
