Anyone recommend PowerStar batteries?

I'm looking at the PowerStar AGM deep cycle batteries. They're on Amazon and elsewhere but I haven't been able to find any reviews. Do you have any experience with them?

This will be for camping use (12v, ~26ah used daily), charged with a house AC charger, and I plan to add solar charging later.
  • Thanks all. I'm fairly new to all of this (RV's, batteries, etc.). I didn't konw about the relationship of CCA to weight or the thickness of the lead plates.

As for an RV or bass boat, I'd be using it for camping (sometimes in an RV, sometimes in a tent). It would be recharged daily with either shore AC power or solar.

The Amazon page is confusing because it lists different values for the AH and weight. The seller clarified the AH as "80". If the weight is 65 pounds for 80AH, does that sound like a decent battery? The other weight listed is 51.7 pounds, and I know that would be too light for 80AH and therefore not a good battery for my purposes.
  • It's a hybrid MARINE battery. Is it for an RV or a bass boat?
  • Look at how much an interstate flooded battery weighs then compare that to an Odyssey or Lifeline. How much lighter is your "Power Star"? This should be the first step in comparing batteries. Lighter weight and high CCA means paper thin plates. The weight versus CCA is a crucial value when evaluating ANY battery for cyclability. I would think even a heavy 24-AGM should not have more than 700 CCA and be labeled a cyclable battery. Good cyclable AGM batteries have positive plate thickness in excess of .090"

A term the master distributor is afraid of violating is the answer to

    COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

It is a federal felony to falsely declare the country of origin.

Try it sometime. The gladhanding salesman stops grinning like a monkey. Internet answers get serios FAST!

Lin Xao Peng advised me months ago to start expecting Chinese AGM batteries to start showing up. I don't think distributors here would promote Happy Dragon branded batteries.
  • 80 AHr is pretty normal for grp24 size 12v

BUT the detail specs says 51.7# and 70ampHr
