anyone seen this type of ceiling fan ?

I have a 98 Carriage with a fan in the bathroom that is next to useless. It's about 5-6 inches across. Sounds like a chainsaw and doesn't suck worth beans. Anyone replaced one of these and what can I do that's not major surgery (No roof cutting) ?

  • Replace the fan part with a computer fan. They are very quiet.
  • Be sure it is running the right direction. As far as the noise, that is what they call an RV given. Some fans used in stick homes are obnoxiously loud too.
  • Have one of them in the bathroom on my RV. It's loud, but doesn't sound like a chainsaw. I suspect you've got some debris lodged in it. My vents usually end up getting small twigs and leaves in them and when that happens they do make an awful racket.

For what it's worth, the small vent fan in my RV does exhaust the steam and smells even though it doesn't create a noticeable wind storm while doing so.
  • Try taking it apart, cleaning and lubing it before reassembly.
Maybe it's just not working properly. It probably won't make it quieter but it may make it work at an acceptable level. It's worth a shot.

Also, check Amazon and Ebay along with RV suppliers for a replacement that will fit the existing hole.
  • Installed one years ago in our van. It was noisy, but in that van, nobody noticed.
