Then how do you propose we get the resources we need? Mining, farming, commercial fishing, construction etc. are all more hazardous than writing apps for cell phones. But I think everyone would agree we do need things like food, shelter and fuel.
As for those jobs only being for the poorest among us and are jobs that people take only because they have no other options, I think the miners, oil field workers, farmers, and ranchers would disagree. The loudest complaints you hear from people employed in those fields is that the jobs are disappearing, not that they are the difficult, low paying or hazardous.
