FWIW, the population bomb's detrimental affects cannot be technology'd around - only postponed and not indefinitely. The Earth is not infinite ... and people-count cannot be, either.
IMHO if the world's total population level was, through future birth rate control, brought down to and maintained at somewhere around 1/7th of what is today - then eventually everyone living during each generation could be sustained for a long time at a fairly high standard of living - assuming wealth distribution was also kept within fair ratios.
