Are multiple shallow cycles harmful for batteries?

FREQUENT 5% or less draw downs? Uhh, ya mean like engine batteries that are started ten times a day? You know, the ones that frequently last 8 years and are normally killed prematurely by high engine heat? The batteries with the most porous thin plates? Are those the ones that they say not to draw down 5% or less?
