You are of course mixing the electrolyte occasionally BFL13, right? BTW, try the 15.0 volt 2% A/H capacity "top charge" now and then. It acts as a plate surface area conditioner.
You buy thick plates so you can "exercise" them with these regimens. I cannot emphasize enough the lack of top charging and shortening of battery life. You can see why UPS calcium calcium batteries are chosen for long term reliability. Despite their limit of 20% discharge. The batteries are floated and ignored. Lead antimony batteries cannot tolerate it.
Can't wait for plug-n-play lithium to make their appearance. Then I can go garden because no one would want to use a phonograph, typewriter, incandescent lamp or stick a nickel in a pay phone and slam the return button with the palm of the hand.
