My version of split bank while camping is just for those times to try for 100% (or equalize--whatever you want to call it--top charging-)using solar.
First you need to get them as high as possible the first day, then not use them so you can now go all the way the second day. That means split the bank and use half for that overnight still camping, restraining your usage as required now you have half your usual bank on line.
Then you need two more nice days next chance you get to do the other half of your bank. Actually that is for two or four batt banks, but you might have three or six batts and need some other division that will work.
You only need to do this every month or two so the rest of the time you camp as usual with the whole bank going at once. (Peukert)
Some cases you have a split bank anyway where the batts are in different locations and too far to be connected. You can still jumper over either direction for this procedure to run the other bank's stuff for a short period if youhave long jumper cables or whatever. There is even the "new way" recently discussed, of plugging your rig that has no batteries into an inverter in the other rig and let the converter in the first rig supply its 12v for a while.
