Yes but don't believe the adapter exist, so in the long run he needs to change the connection on one of his cords.
I don't think he will be able to use the cord as both a standard cord and an extension cord. Of course he could make his own adapter which would require to new connectors and some wire. However it maybe more cost effective to just buy an extension cord vs. fabricating his pwn adapter.
