I've tried using Velcro to attach my carpet to the linoleum floor in my truck camper. The glue fails either on the floor piece or the carpet piece. Velcro might have failed to stay stuck together, too. Don't remember.I'm going to put new carpet in and am looking for suggestions on a better way. I want to attach the corners to the floor, but be able to remove the carpet for cleaning.Thanks,

Get thee to a Home Deopt-Rent a carpet install knee bump/stretcher and buy some carpet tac strips. It's the way RV Manufacturers install carpets. The tac strips are nailed down on the base of the walls/cabinets. I've used this before to strech loose carpets at home and in RV's. EZ-PEEZY!Clean by hand with a good carpet cleaning foam with no residue.

I picked up a whole bunch of throw away two-foot carpet squares from work site. Most all of them still had a sticky something on them and I am amazed how well they stay down of the floor. The longer they stay the harder they are to pull back up... The glue comes in a can and is lightly put on the bottom of the carpet squares.I rounded up all the deep blue squares I could for the floor of my POPUP and all the green to put under my tent bed ends... Really made a big difference doing away with cold floors in the mornings. The downside is it sure picks up alot small leaves and other things you track inside being out in the woods somewhere... We just bought some scrap pieces (both big enough for the bedroom and the living room) for our rig. DH stapled them around the edges....didn't use that knee kicker thing. If you're doing a small area, it's not necessary. Try to grab up some padding before you put it down. As for cleaning.....we have a carpet cleaner (similar to a vac) we use to clean our carpet. If you put in an indoor/outdoor type (low nap) you could just clean with a scrub brush and soap....especially in your small truck camper.....

When I pulled my carpet up for replacement it was held in place with a thousand small staples .. no need to stretch or put down tac strips.

Thanks for the info. Seems like the norm is to "permanently" attach the carpet to the floor. I'm using indoor-outdoor type carpet and would prefer being able to easily remove it. Will have to experiment more.Thanks,Ralph

I tried everything including the kitchen sink to hold a long carpet runner in place, nothing would hold,......until I installed the heavy boat canvas snaps on each corner,.....screwed the male part to the floor. It been holding for 3 years, and unsnaps easily for cleaning. But you either need a good tool to install the snaps on the carpet, or have the boat/upholstry shop do it.

Sticking the carpets on the floor might not sound a nice idea. I myself had my carpets pasted but after some years the carpets dirty and old, so I contacted residential carpet cleaning Denver for help. They suggested me to get rid of these carpets and get some rubber flooring done so that we can have new carpets on it which can also be removed for cleaning from time to time.

You need a high strength adhesive, that will help you in your problem . I had the same problem but it was solved using a 3M adhesive. I got many proper installation tips for my wool carpet manufacturer at Nourison Hospitality

There are commercial offerings of non-slip for area rugs, They work well. If you're looking for a semi-permanent solution (and the velcro doesn't work out), 3M makes different grades of double-sided tape for carpet. The "extreme duty" tape is so strong that it will separate plywood when using it--be advised.

A rubber carpet pad will serve to cushion the carpet, prevent it from moving, and keep the edges down so as to prevent a tripping hazard. When you clean the carpet, throw the pad in the washer.

I think I've solved my problem. Industrial strength Velcro will stick to the floor fine. I used some Lexel to glue the Velcro to the carpet. I did a test first with small Velcro pieces on wood and carpet. Seems to hold fine on the carpet. I'm waiting several days to put the carpet back in to let the Lexel fully cure. Time will tell. :)

We use strips of the (dont know whats its actually called) non skid shelf liner, like sticky waffled rubber. Find almost anywhere, last couple of rolls we got from the dollar store in Morro Bay. Just laying on the floor. Keeps indoor/outdoor carpet from sliding. It & and the carpet easily removed. If carpet were heavy enough like boat carpet (ours wouldn't hold em) could use snaps.

I had the same problem with the standard adhesive on the Velcro strips. Get some high strength 3M or other brand adhesive and apply it to the Velcro strips. It worked for me.
