I am thinking of replacing the carpet in the dining area with Laminate. Any suggestions on getting the carpet out from under the slide, and how would you get the new flooring secured under the slide? Im sure it can be done just not sure where to start.
I'd tried to remove my old carpet and for this I would say its easy and when you try to remove the carpet from the slide you would gain access to the particular area with which you would slide the carpet cleaning sydney and laminate installation. - arkansasrunnerExplorerReplace our carpet last summer with lam. flooring. Slide your slide out in about 18 " & it should tilt out enough to get your rollers off & slide your flooring back under your slide out. Put your rollers back on & slide it back out. Worked for me & my rollers does not scratch the flooring.
- 05hd350ExplorerI recently replaced a soft spot in my living room floor, I was able to use a 2X12 that was the length of the slide out and 2 floor jacks to lift the slide enough to remove/ replace the carpet and bad piece of floor.
- RLGetmanExplorerCouple of points on this topic: 1) watch the weight. Replacing original carpet and vinyl with floor panels can add 500+ lbs. 2) You can purchase teflon sheets to place on floor/slide contact areas to protect during slide retraction. 3) Use high quality adhesive as cheap adhesive will leave you with bubble areas to repair 4) Slide carpets can also be replaced with flooring as well if you allow for interface (send email in private message if you want how-to and pictures).

Anyone replacing the carpet have problems with the new flooring being scuffed by the slide roller? Or pad?
It's going to depend on the manufacturers method of slide retraction. Some use rollers, some Teflon glides, etc.. In my case, unfortunately, they figured the carpet to carpet contact would be sufficient to protect the floor. When I removed the carpet from the slide and main floor, I had severe contact, to the point of gouging. I had to put Teflon glides on the ends of the slide, which on time left rub marks on the flooring. - cpaulsenExplorerWe did our in the living room and bedroom....no problems at all with the slide rubbing.

I replace the carpet with laminate with no problem - AlpenliterExplorerwhen you remove the carpet from the slide, you may find, as I did, that the manufacturer installed a fascia board on the leading edge of the slide. By removing this, you will gain additional access to the area under the slide for carpet removal and laminate installation.
- rvtenExplorerReplaced our carpet. Left the carpet under the slide.
Just cut the carpet and leave enough to put a metal trim piece down. After you put in the flooring you want.
I used peal and stick vinyl squares.
Make sure you get all the staples off the wood floor.
If you really insist on going under the slide.
You have to tilt it outward to get under it.
