Attaching Heater Thermostat

I have one of these electric hot water heater kits which uses a rod through the drain hole to work. I'm moving it from my 5th wheel to my truck camper. The thermostat was attached to the heater tank with two adhesive pads which were pretty much destroyed when I removed it. I've emailed Camco, but in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use to replace them? They have to be strong and withstand heat. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks!

This is how I mounted the T-Stat from the Camco Hybrid Kit to the rear of my water heater tank. You need to remove some of the Styrofoam and there is some very sincere adhesive tape pre-attached to the T-Stat. The instruction sheet is too miserable to post. It's an easier job than the sheet would have you believe.

To the OP. I've seen similar tape for sale at most hardware stores.

  • I just used a couple of plastic Zip Ties to hold the Thermostat in place on Our old Southwind!
  • Yep.......ones that are for the aftermarket heater rod.

Either 'Hott Rod' OR 'Lightning Rod'
