Attention Onan 5500 Marquis Gold owners

Question

Just got back from repair shop.My Onan was leaking gas. It would run fine but the gas was leaking badly from a fitting on the inlet side of the carb.The repair guy said it is a known trouble spot but Onan has chose not to do anything about it.This to me poses a serious fire hazard,you have no indication anything is wrong, it could run for hours before the gas got to a hot spot that could ignite. My Gen is in a 2004 RV.Don,t really know when Gen was Manuf but should be in that time frame

Does your generator still have the fuel filter attached to the bottom of the carb? That is a known trouble spot and Onan did do something about it. The fix was to replace the filter with a straight through adapter such as this one. Your "repair guy" should know about that. There is another filter located at the fuel pump so you won't be without filtration.
