Atwood electronic Water Heater Board

At our park, a camper water heater failed. He called a mobile RV Repair Service. They replace his control board with a Dinosaur Board. It is working, however, I noticed if you turn off the main control switch inside the RV, then turn it back on the LED fault light right under the switch will come on for about 3-5 seconds. Then the LED goes out and the unit fires off. Other that that it seem to be working OK. Is this normal with the Dinosaur Boards?
I know with my stock board the fault light only come on if it faults out after three tries? Just wondering. Anyone know about the new board? Thanks Gary

Dinosaur boards are set up that way....light on during firing/out when flame proved...........back on if it faults.

The fault light isn't just for propane......

It will also come on when using electric IF the ECO t-stat opens.

X2, the water heater in my new Rockwood does that. They must have made a change as the fault light would only come on in our old trailer if the heater didn't light.

There are several different programs used on the Atwood boards.. It may be your Dino needs a switched or an "erratra" to your owner's manual.

ONE of the programs turns on the light for a few seconds to acknowledge you turned on GAS mode, then turns it off, then turns it back on if there is a fault.

If it were really a fault, it would lock out and not light.

  • Thanks, I was wondering because my with my stock board, if I turn off the Gas switch on the wall then turn it back on I get the green light on top of the switch. The fault light only come on if there is a fault.
Now with my camper friends new board, if you turn off the gas switch then, turn it back on he get the Green Led on top of the switch and the red Led on the bottom comes on. Between 3-5 later the unit fires off and the fault light go out. I always thought that once the fault light was on it would not fire off. Guess I had it wrong. Again thanks for your input. Gary
  • The light stays on until the heater lights and then goes off.
That is the way my Atwood circuit board works so it would seem okay for the dinosaur board to work the same way.
