Atwood Range/Oven won't ignite

Our 2012 Coleman (Dutchmen) TT with an Atwood Range/Oven won't ignite using the igniter on the front of the range now. It worked the few times we had it out last year but when we went out last weekend and tried to light the stove burner and oven, it wouldn't work. I had to use a lighter. Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so, was it easily remedied without taking the rig in for service. Although it's still under warranty until June, our RV service centers in my area are booked out until June. If it's an easy fix, I would like to do it myself.

There may be too much of a gap between where the propane is and the Piezo. Sometimes, you need to let a little gas build up and then try to give it a click. If that doesn't help I don't think that on an Atwood Range that you can service this if it is indeed the problem. I could be wrong! LOL

  • Does it 'spark'?
Can you see the 'spark' jump from end of tip to burner?

Problem could be the spark generator and/or cracked ceramic insulator on spark tip.

Lift stove top up check wires/connectors/insulators etc.
If NO sparking is going on......replace the spark generator (piezo)

  • You know Old-Biscuit, come to think of it, it does not spark. I bet your right about the spark generator being broken. I'll go out to the ranch where we keep it parked tomorrow and check it out.
    Thank You for your input.
  • Are you sure that it has a electronic lighter for the oven? Most only have the spark lighter for the top burners and you have to light the oven with a match or one of those small propane lighters. Check the manual for oven lighting
  • I always have to light the pilot light with a long butane lighter but the burners should light by rotating the knob on the front right of the stove. They do spark they just don't light. I'm still messing with it. Frustrating.

Our Atwood range has always been tempermental with lighting the burners. I even got a new lighter from Atwood under warranty and it is still iffy when lighting.I have spark all the time but the burners are slow to light. Gas pressure is correct. I believe that it was poorly designed but since we have a handheld lighter it is a minimal problem.
