Awning installation

Found a great deal locally on an awning for my Nash 24'. The problem is that it's 16' and the awning that I lost was 17'. My question is, are the top and bottom brackets just lag bolted into the wood frame of the RV? I basically need to be able to move one of the brackets in a foot and want to be sure that's not going to be an issue before I go pick this thing up.

Some of the videos I found on youtube show the bracket being bolted from the inside with a nut instead of lag bolt, but those were window awnings.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • The top is just lag bolted to the frame around the roof so the wood is continuous but I've noticed that many trailers have a sticker that shows where the bottom of the leg is to be lag bolted. Before getting a new shorter awning I would make sure there is wood behind in this lower area. (It probably is because it's probably just bolted to the edge of the floor framing.)
  • I have a Dominic (spelling) Awning. Mine was installed with lag screws. No bolts behind them.

My bottom part broke (the part that stays on the camper and has the level to remove the arm for carport type awning ) and the replacement parts were ONLY lag screws.
