1) +/+ and -/- interconnects should be same length
2) both +/- interconnects should be same length, but not necessarily equal to length in #1.
3) All interconnects should be as short as practically possible.
The rest of your post is hard to understand without seeing Iota picture that you are referring to.
In any event, the above diagram is correct for 4*6V units. This is electricity basics that are not specific to any particular charger.
