LY those are the new type Interstate 210 HCLs which are Trojan T-605s.
Trojan requires 14.8 as Vabs for a recharge. Equalize is 16.2v You need to give them a proper full voltage recharge and an equalize style overcharge to get that SG up to spec.
Looking at trojan t605 pdf, The Lids on the batteries are certainly the same, but the cap removal system is different. The interstates have 3 individual caps, but joined together so one lever unscrews all three at once. It has 'do not lift by this' printed all over it. The battery owner did not bother reading this, but apparently it is strong enough.
I did not want to hammer brand new batteries with 14.8v as I had all the time needed to top them up at a lower voltage. I thought I remember Mex saying something about a longer slower initial recharge on new batteries.
I did take about 25AH out of them yesterday and then 14.8'd them but have not taken another SG reading yet. I used my aircompresor as a bigger 12v load(19 amps). My single group27 northstar AGM at 500+ deep cycles holds higher voltage than these 2 GC-2's under this load.
These are the first new flooded batteries I have really tested/observed to this degree, when still new.
