Just wanted to throw in an update -
After filling the two 6v batteries back up with water, and connecting a battery charger overnight (and part of the following day), all seems like it's charging again. The batteries haven't seemed to get below 12.2v during the night with a couple of lights going and a couple of laptops.
I will keep an eye on everything without the charger for a few days and make double sure, but I've got my fingers crossed it was something simple like that.
