Since that whole area just inside the front storage door of a fifth wheel is available I have seen as many as four GC2 batteries sitting in that area. The floor space is open for draining and easy to attach vent hoses to all closed battery boxes... This is all under our front bedroom so I would definitely mount the batteries in a somewhat sealed box.
This is what one dude did with his fifth wheel putting four GC2 6VDC gulf cart batteries here...
Then covered it up with a full size board all the way across the top of it like this... I didnt read how he vented his battery box but the board on top is sealing off the battery box below it when strapped down...
