Battery charging with Honda 2000

Going to be without shore power for 6 nights and will need to use the furnace, couple of lights and cpap after 8 PM when I can't use the generator. If I wanted to recharge an extra battery with a Battery Tender Plus while the house battery was charging on the built- in WFCO 65 amp would the Battery Tender use too much power from the Honda 2000 for both chargers to be effective? Can run genny from 8AM to 8 PM. Would there be any difference in using both genny outlets or should I plug the BT+ into to a trailer outlet?

  • the battery tender is a 'feather weight'
just put jumper cables from the extra battery to the main
use both at the same time, it will be better for the batteries and for the heater
charge both together at the same time from the wfco and honda
  • This would be like Arnold Schwarzenegger (in his prime), grunting when he lifts a feather. The battery tender is like a house sitter. He ain't qualified to construct a 2-story addition, and your battery tender has about as much battery charging power as a fart in a whirlwind, begging your pardon... :)
  • I agree with pianotuna, battery tender plus will not charge a battery only maintain it. better off with two full blown battery chargers. they will not over load a honda 2000. I have when I fished, charged the TT battery by plugging in the TT and using a charger to charge the boat battery
  • No it won't overload the generator, but I would not choose the battery tender plus as a charger. Far better to use the wfco to charge both batteries.

Even better would be a 40 amp charger such as:

Or you could replace the wfco with a "real" converter such as Iota, PD, or others of that ilk.
