DrewE's suggestion of the Trik-L-Start is actually the best and easiest solution if you want to keep separate batteries. I had forgotten about it. When I had a motor home, I use the Trik-L-Start to keep the chassis battery charged when plugged in for extended periods. Worked like a champ. Permanently install it and forget it. (It has the battery isolator function built in.)
That would be the way to go or a wire from the house battery with a diode in-line.
The big advantage of the Trik-L-Start over a wire with a diode is that, should you have the breakaway switch activated when unhooking the trailer and dry camping, the breakaway system won't drain the house battery down. If it's going to drain the house battery, there's no reason not to wire the whole thing there and eliminate the little battery altogether; with the diode you would have all the disadvantages of having a single battery (like most travel trailers and fifth wheels do) and none of the advantages (one less battery to worry about).
