battery problems

I was getting my 1984 Holiday Rambler Alumalite Motorhome ready for a trip next week. I completely disconnected the house batteries and pulled them out. I cleaned the batteries and filled the cells. I went inside the house and noticed the green lite on the pendant of my Inteli-power 9245c was lit. I thought that was odd with the batteries disconnected so i checked the lights and they came on as well. The power had to be coming from the engine battery but I thought the engine battery was isolated from the house. The motorhome has an auxelliery switch on the dash to start the engine off the house batteries in an emergency. Do I have a problem or is this the way it is supposed the work. This is my first rv and am lost with this.
Thanks.

Richard

  • If your connected to shore power - that's the way it's suppose to work as your PD9245 connects directly to your DC power distribution panel. You chassis battery isn't suppose to have any impact on your coach unless your battery isolator isn't working properly.
  • My BOOST switch was miswired causing both sets of batteries to be connected all the time.

Fixed the wiring error and alright now.
  • Are you plugged into shore power?
No, it should not be interconnect while engine is not running. There should be a relay that energizes to charge coach batteries while main engine is running.
