buying a new Wolf Creek 840, we bring it home in a couple weeks.I want to put 2 batteries in it. (I hear it holds two 27's)What do you guys think of these.cabelas advanced angler AGMI have some cabelas bucks so I can afford a pair of these. The reviews seem good, but they are mostly boat people writing.Would these be better than 2 Walmart 27 Series Marine/Deep cycle batteries?If I have to pay cash for batteries it will be lead acid, I don't have cash for AGM's right nowWill the stock on-board charger be OK charging AGM's?

Personally, I'd measure your battery compartment 1st and then with THAT information, measure the batteries that your thinking of purchasing.Someone told me that the battery compartment of my 2014 NL could fit 2x #27's so thinking that it would work I got home from Costco with two batteries and could only fit ONE of them in there. (I returned the 2nd one)Measure 1st - not all batteries have the same exact measurements.

What size battery will be in it when you bring it home? You want to pair the batteries - so both are the same make up, not one lead acid and the other AMG. They also will last longer if they are basically the same age.So a 5 year old battery should not be paired with a new battery, it will discharge the battery quickly while trying to charge the older one.Most maintenance free 12 volt batteries will last about 2-3 years in RV use with the standard RV battery charger. You might get a little more time out of the battery if you can add water to it, and keep it full of distilled water.If you keep the battery full most of the time, and do not let it sit discharged, it will increase the battery life. A solar system will keep it full while in storage, and also refill the battery while out camping to some extent. Your RV will consume 35 amp hours daily to run the CO meter, propane detector and refrigerator. If you have a group 24 battery - 70 amp hours, it can go dead in 2 days. 105 AH group 27 or group 31 battery will last a little longer. Make sure that the battery you pick you can add water to it. After about 3 months, it will lose about 3 ounces per cell.Golf cart batteries last longer because they can hold more water, have more space below the plates to collect junk before the plates become clogged with debris. My first set lasted for 13 years! My second set was only about 7 years, as I did not keep the full of water all the time. Most of the 12 volt batteries I had prior to 1997 only lasted about 1-3 years.If you can fit a pair of golf cart batteries, they are the way to go. Fred, I am taking a 27 series Lead Acid with me to bring it home.

Once you measure the box and the Cabelas battery's fit then buy them. They are AGM's and I have had one for about seven years. I also added a second Universal about five years ago. Both are AGM's and group 31's, I think you'll be satisfied. The Cabelas warranty is also good. Soon after I bought the first battery it went bad. I called Cabelas and they had me take the battery to a local shop to have it tested. I had to send a signed letter from the shop to Cabelas. The refunded me the money which I just bought the present battery.

AGM's, remember they can be used at any angle vs Lead acid which have to be upright. Mine are on the fifth year with the factory charger, with one at an angle to fit into the slide tray. Both are 12 volt group 31 AGM as I have no urge to install a battery watering system for lead acid or even check them on a regular basis for that matter. The less things I have to keep track of the better as far as I am concerned.

Universal Batteries are all over Ebay. They are made in China. Who knows who made the stickers for Cabelas. I have had my 100 AH Universal for about three years, with no complaint so far.

it appears the 2 Cabala batteries I bought are made by Universal Battery Group (ubgi.com).
the cardbord box has Model # UB12900 on it, which the above website shows as a 90Ah battery. The box also list UPG NO. 45962 which does not show up in search on ubgi.com. I guess Cabelas can order enough batteries to have a production run so the battery is custom for them?
they were 95% charged when I threw them on the charger.

Car jar flooded batteries are pathetically manufactured and promoted. there is no way on the face of the earth that a group 27 truly cyclable battery is going to render 700 cold cranking amps we're talking about flooded batteries now not AGM. Declaring a group: 27 flooded deep cycle battery to have 700 cold cranking amps would be very similar to declaring a John Deere tractor tire to have a speed rating of a hundred forty miles per hour. It's an insult to a person's intelligence.

The Group 29 30 and 31 batteries are an inch longer 13 inches versus 12 than a group 27 battery. the difference in capacity of the 29 30 or 31 is not earth shattering from the capacity of a group 27 battery.

Whatever you choose I hope it works out for you.
The Lifeline documentation and specifications are fine for Lifeline AGM batteries, however, AGM batteries of different manufacture often have different capabilities and charging requirements. So, while the Lifeline manual is informative with some general information about AGM batteries, it might be prudent to obtain the documentation for the batteries one chooses, if they are not Lifelines.

Fullriver also has pretty comprehensive documentation for their batteries, but I wouldn't recommend it, or the Lifeline documentation, as information that covers all AGM batteries of varying manufacture.

Even if you don't purchase both now get the compatible item.

I just Picked up our Wolf Creek 840 last week it came with one Exide group 24 stowaway deep cycle battery 140 reserve capacity 80 amp hours and was looking into purchasing another. I can pick up another for about $75 at Menards. We also were looking into AGM batteries but they are pricy and read not to mix AGM and wet batteries. I figure for now spending $75 is much better than over $400 for 2 AGM's in a few years when they wear out i will replace both with AGM"s

Mello Mike put a pair of 6v in his wolf Creek 850 truck camper (added because thread was moved from truck camper forum), but had to lay them on the sides so they would fit. I just called northwood. 13w x 14.75 D and he didn't measure the height. He said 29 series would fit in my model (the 840) but 29 is not a choice on the batteries I am looking at.

Two27's is about 190 Amp Hours

IF you have the head room (They are taller) Then two GC-2,wired in series(Since they are six volt)will deliver 215-230 amp hours Depending on the sub model.

Oh,you may need to"Shim" thebattery box a bit (Drop in some wood if it a box.
