If your trailer is old enough to come with a Magnetek 6300 series converter. they say it will not work without a battery or a battery simulator.. I've seen it work without one however.
I assume there are other converters that are like this as well but have never encountered one (But then I'm not an RV technician, Just a man who lends a hand).
Most converters do not care if there is a battery.
One possible problem and a simple solution.
IF the positive leads come in contact with the metal battery tray,< BAD THINGS HAPPEN.
Slip a sock over 'em. (and a plastic bag over that or inside it).
