Battery question

Ok, this is embarrassing, but I have to ask. This is out first 5th wheel without a generator. So please bare with me.

How can I run my TV or other small appilances off the batteries? That is if it is possible.

Thank you for your patience.

  • My sister and her husband have a 4,000 or 6000 watt inverter and a little 2,000 watt Honda generator for when they go dry camping in there 5th wheel. We have a generator in the motorhome and when we dry camp we use the little Honda generator to keep up the batteries.
  • A small inverter would run the TV.
You would need a large inverter and lots of batteries to run large appliances like microwave, coffee pot, etc.
Running an AC unit would not be possible.
You may want to look into a genset about 4000 watts or so. It could remain in truck bed for travel and use.
  • You can't ... unless you get an inverter...
That inverter will run off the batteries but has limitations..
That is where I will refer to the professionals on here... They will chime in soon and answer you far better than I ever could . .
  • By using an "inverter" pure sine or modified. By small appliances, if you mean a toaster, forget about it, you won't have enough battery for that type of thing.

And recharging your batteries becomes an issue.

You're going to need a small portable generator or Solar, if shore power is not available & your out for more than a day or 2
  • Adding an inverter will do it but you will be limited as to how much and how long you can run stuff. Then there is the problem of recharging the batteries
