Battery Rermoval question

I store my TT at a facility where I pay for a power hookup to keep a 750 watt electric heater plugged in when the inside of the trailer gets below 40 degrees. Yesterday I found out that during the past 3 weeks where the weather has been sub 32 degree before any of this, the power to my trailer has been off due to at the facility.. My 2 12v batteries are now extremely low (assume to lp detector).. I know that the onboard power panel is only a maintainer not a charger.. Power will be restored this week but can I removed the 2 12 v batteries and take them home for charging while once power is restored, continue to use the power panel to supply the 110 vac plugs with no problems? Somebody told me the batteries must be installed for the power panel / shore power connection to be connected?? Thank goodness I drained my water lines before any of this happened..
