Battery separator in 2001 Chevy -- need help!

Hi all,

The original battery isolator used in my 2001 Chevy Roadtrek is shot. I have a Sure Power 1315 Battery Separator, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to wire the alternator excitation circuit on it, as this was a dedicated post on the old Hehr isolator.

The 1315 has posts for a "start signal" and "start lamp", as documented here: http://www.ase-supply.com/Sure_Power_1315_200_Battery_Separator_p/sp-1315-200.htm

Thoughts?

Thanks!

  • ?Excitation? or sense wire from isolator to alternator?

With a solenoid-based isolator, there is no voltage drop across the isolator, so a remote sense wire is not needed. If your alternator has a remote sense terminal, you can wire it to the B+ terminal of the alternator.

No familiar with a Hehr brand isolator. Hehr alternator, yes. So, this advice may not be accurate for your application.
