Pretend they are AGMs, pretend you will never know what the SG will be. Just charge them to the normal requirements, and put them in your normal service. If they perform to your normal charge/discharge cycles, then yes, you "saved them" If not, use'm for cores.
As far as gassing a gallon of water out in 9 months, I can only say one thing,........there are 3 kinds of dry campers,.....those that use PD chargers, those that should be using PD chargers, and those that wish they had been using them !
