I am not sure how things are wired or your capabilities to do some simple rewiring.
If the converter/charge has a plug (or you can install one) then install a simple MECHANICAL lamp timer between the plug and and outlet and set it to run for about 1-2 hours per day. Add unplugging the timer to your pre-trip check list and plug it back in on your storage check list.
