Well not very good distilled water, probably not any better than his RO water. In an actually still first stage water is often around 5 ppm solids. Actual distilled water undergoes repeated distillations 5 to 8 usually. And I don't know how you could practically capture it in the first place. Stainless steel would be OK to contact it and maybe aluminum too if you could do so. Regular lime glassware might even be worse.
On the other hand I'm not too sure just how pure the stuff they sell as 'distilled water' in stores really is.
I did this sort of thing professionally.
Thinking about it tho I can imagine capturing a fair amount of distillate using aluminum foil sheets and ice. It would be Rube Goldburg device tho...heh.
I could have recommended copper cover and funnel but seem too much investment and trouble for distilled water for battery.:p
