I don't like being told up is now down so the meaning of words is now different. 2 x 2 = 4 is not an opinion.

It might all be about monitoring protocols. "Capacity" "% SOC" "Full" don't seem to mean the same thing in Li language as they mean in ordinary English and Math.

There is a bms on the battery in the case hidden out of sight. It has replaced you as far as trying to guess what's happening.

Have safe guard parameters in place, your done.

The builder of battery says charge to xx.x volt for so long. Your done.

I guess what you don't like or understand is the chemistry is forgiving to a degree if you keep from over/ under charging. Run it pSoC. So what if you don't get it full just as well.

Furnace was just recently rewired srraight to the battery because furnace was acting up and so i quickly wired it straight to battery with thicker cables because very cold that day and needed heat asap.

The goofiness seems to start with the way they equate the percentage state of charge with cell voltage. Nobody does that with Wet/AGMs except with resting voltage. These goofies do it while the battery is being charged.

That throws a scuz into the whole way of "monitoring".

Meanwhile I am wondering if mobilesport has his monitor set up properly wrt what is on the shunt. He is recording charger output amps ok, but it is not showing any change in amps when his furnace comes on apparently.

On the slower rise in voltage at the start of charging from the low point, he got to his low point by hitting the low voltage cut off. But is that voltage even lower than the zero AH mark? The high voltage cut off is higher than the "full" mark. Perhaps there is some catch-up to do at first which is where the extra AH went?

Another thing is how with Wets that are taken way down low, when you recharge they have a low amps acceptance rate. You see the amps slowly rise as SOC comes up until the battery gets back to normal after being recharged somewhat. Is there a similar thing with Li?

But it showed 53 amps down low. But was that what was going into the battery or was that just the way the monitor is only showing charger amps because of the way the shunt is wired?

Lots to sort out here before we can come to any conclusions about Li batts in general or BBs in particular.

4 cells make up a lfp battery at 3.65v=14.6 not 6, this isn't dead lead technology. ;)

In that link he cuts open the Battleborn battery case and you can see how it's assembled. At the 10:46 mark he explains the cells configuration/ energy.

Battleborn is over building the battery some, advertise 1,200wh and build in 1,305.6wh. That's the 10 year 80% warranty they figure it will last in their configuration.

In the first hour, 53AH shows a 28% rise in SOC (instead of 53)


Completely bananas. It should be linear of course.

EDIT-Ok so the last 48 minutes was the 27.6AH and it shows 73-100% bang on.

All the distortion was at the beginning, which is why your 30-70 was ok but your 1-100 is wonky. The first 30 is the culprit. No idea why.

A charger supplies any loads first, then the battery gets any amps left over.

If you had a steady constant 7 amp load the whole time, not like a furnace cycling, then the monitor would show 53 instead of 60 amps constant

A Trimetric monitor ( I thought this was true of all monitors) only records amps in and out of the battery. So if the charger is supplying 53 amps and your furnace comes on at 7 amps then the monitor would drop to show 46 amps. The AH count would reflect the lower amps for that time.

I don't have any info on your monitor. I could not find one in Kisea's line of products so no user manual.

I note that the first set of numbers where you seemed to do a 30-70 came out to 68AH so that came out right. This time you did a 1-100 and showed an amazing 133AH. What was different this time? That would mean the monitor thinks you have a 133AH battery to show 100% SOC with 133 on the clock.

No you don't. :( You are(were I hope!) assuming that your battery is 100AH and that there is no heat loss while recharging, or that the monitor's charging efficiency allowance is just right.

Now you see it says 100 and the AH count was 133---

This whole business where Li guys seem to not understand the basic question, "Percentage of what?" is a mystery. Some kind of mental block?

New thought!--the BMS kicks in at 14v. How much of the recharging energy goes into running that thing instead of to the cells?

I'm kinda confused on how could've I over charged if I ended at 14.4 volts and amps were at 3 amps ?
I've been told you can tell when you hit 100% soc when battery reads 14.4 volts.

Another thing to think about , BB says to charge in absorption for 20 minutes after bulk , my bulk ended at 3:20pm and then I only charged for another 28 minutes, and so the most I think I could've went over is maybe 8 minutes which is pretty insignificant.

Also referring to that bad connection, 153 degrees F is close to twice as hot as my other connections.

You asked if my monitor has a ah counter , yes it does and I just remembered why I didn't document the amp hours , it's because I always know what the amp hours are because there always the same as my soc% reading , for example if my soc% reading is 75% soc I know my amp hour reading will be 75ah.
If my soc% reading is 25% soc then I know my amp hour reading will be 25ah.

And it turns out it's ok to charge this battery to 100% almost every time, I heard it right out of the mouth of the BB CEO when Will Prouse was interviewing him.

At the 9:28 point in the video the CEO discusses charging and says he wants you to top it off to 100%.
