Problem still remains unaddressed, any massive societal shift to EV’s will at minimum help assure brown outs - a solar harvest is hoped for (varies greatly by region...) but not assured, thus often in deficit....Imposing long term transportation mandates by the ‘Wizards of Smart’ (think, Sacramento- lol) a mere prescription to run a mock....
There certainly is a practical place for solar (off grid is a ‘best use’ application) but as of yet, the grid’s (as engineered) very SLOW to adjust, ‘reliable’ energy production is yet to find practical ways to ‘optimize’ the not so predictable, ever changing, varible amounts of solar harvest...A vacuum full of policy edicts (or wishful thinking) will not change this present power generation problem, technology and applied engineering solutions could make a difference, though as of now at some distant date...
In my view, at present, what the wholesale trend to EV’s forecast is merely a shift of our vehicle conveyance problems to the Nation’s (at present taken for granted and assumed...) electrical grid systems, with little if any appreciable corrosponding decrease in ‘net pollution’....An example of deminishing returns for a colossal amount of effort and cost...
Incentive bearing (at taxpayer’s cost) policy makers are the ‘first cause’ behind this trendy EV endeavor...Musk is merely reacting...
Ev’s do have great driving performance (and often a Commanding presence) but this is not a solid reason to center comprehensive, practical policy making around - economics, technology and engineering solutions (considering net pollution and other clean energy options as well) must PRECEDE any ‘responsible’ wholesale policy shifts...Sadly, this incentive driven lack of a comprehensive approach is the 800# gorilla in the room that will lead to a rise in brown outs, without appreciable reductions in net pollution...
Earlier in this tread the lack of Critical Thinking was mentioned - maybe I shouldn’t invest my time...
