Electrical grids must must must be specc'ed for worst case demand. And when redesigned opted for 20-year growth potential.
So let's day 5,000,000 motor vehicles in the LA and Inland Empire are electric - worst case is five million times 5Kw.
Heheh heheh do the math. Then doubt what I stated and call the California Public Utilities Commission.
25,000,000 Kw. Twenty five Gigawatts. JUST FOR THE LA AREA
California has more than double that number of cars. Fifty gigawatts?
Hoover dam generates twenty gigawatts...
In the mean time California seems to be installing solar power plants faster than EVs can be made.
The calculations are not static. The grid is not static. EVs are still slow sellers.
The electric company would love to quadruple in size and charge every EV possible. They want expansion same as all other business. And if that cuts into the oil company profit and volume that is the way it will go.
Don't play into the whiny advertisements about giving your appliances the afternoon off that we have heard for six decades. These are regulator required statements. Electric company wants all the usage and demand they can get.
It seems that rational discourse has become the victim of non-approachable EV worship...
