PV installations and EV ownership are a good match. Cars can also be used as energy sources at the home garage.
And as far as the scary Orwellian worries, any modern product of the major automakers is as internet connected as an electric car. Remote disabling is just a software upgrade away. If your mind runs that way. Never fear, the hackers will root your car and provide a workaround to government control or you can buy a black market firewall. ;)
I do agree with the anti subsidy position mainly, but that's not how government works, nor did it ever. Partisans lobby for preferential treatment and get it. That's just human nature.
And to expect transportation to remain unchanged... a dream.
