SULFUR plays an enormous role in the creation of SMOG. Reducing GASOLINE sulfur content to 0 ppm would help vehicles and the air alike.
I'll say this for the seeming ten thousandth time. The era of vast rainforests, jungles, and greenery on this planet was caused by a sustained spike in CO2 levels. Lasting eons. If the south Pacific ocean was spiked with million tons of micro particulate ferrous product it would cause an algae bloom that will change an area the size of the old USSR from almost sterile to one rich in creatures meaning fish. The surface algae would convert trillions of tons of CO2 to O2. Yet attempts to conduct extremely limited testing of the process have been thwarted legally by environmental groups.
Oh have I searched high and low. Everywhere for data regarding the total conversion of O2 to CO2 by six billion human beings over a period of say 10-years BY MERELY BREATHING. The revelation of which may totally bias any attempt to reduce CO2 emissions. Not by elimination but by directly attacking CO2 itself. The ambiguity shown by humanity toward censorship of countries chopping down hundreds of millions of acres of rainforests for a pittance of profit is disgusting. Brazil is especially guilty in this regard.
This goes even deeper. The unwillingness of the Unites States and affected states to plant hundreds of millions of willow trees on inherently weak banks of giant river's levees would solve many problems. Willows have incredibly dense root structure. Tiered planting would render a levee vastly stronger and decrease breaches in levees during critically high water levels.
THIMK! Look at Los Angeles traffic or any other urban jam. Think the solution is unobtainable? FORCE INDUSTRY TO DIVERSIFY LOCATIONS USING TAX CREDITS. Millions of motor vehicles not going anywhere create nightmare levels of CO, CO2, HC, and NOX concentrations.
Bay Area Rapid Transit is screaming to add FIVE HUNDRED PERCENT more passenger load. The tracks and infrastructure could easily absorb it with 0% degradation in safety. THE GLITCH is no parking and a nightmare of hub transportation to and from the stations. BUILD 5-DECK PARKING AND CHARGE FOR IT! Not even under consideration.
Neither is a viable bypass freeway well around the Los Angeles urban area. Or anywhere else. Phoenix? Chicago? Scranton? Of course not. Bypasses insure isolation from local traffic. This is a viable way to reduce emissions.
If you see a problem, fix it using other than a derivative thinking process. "We have traffic problems. Let's fix it in the most obtuse, obstructive and abstract way possible"
Fuel prices are depressed because of a surplus in supply.....period. The effects of solar panels is a grain of sand in the Sahara. THIMK! What energy source does your utility use? Gasoline? Diesel? No. six fuel oil? Nuclear? Coal? Hydro?
It's a world of Sheep People governed in developed countries by failed lawyers and in 3rd world countries by strong arm , crooks, or both. What do you expect? Intelligence? Studies? Proposals?
My expenditure for broadleaf green plants exists for a reason, as does my 75 kWh electrical bill. My refusal to spend more money and waste more resources by buying the cheapest product exists for a reason. So does repair! Not replace!

It is not a "better" lifestyle. It is not "the desirable" lifesyle in tune with societal harmony of acceptance. It is (except on one forum) a quiet, dignified, and rational true form of environmental responsibility. No protests, no telling others how to live or vote. It is simply devoid of hypocrisy.
