Yes but is controlled parenthood a viable alternative? Far far far too much resistance. Planting proven O2 converters in sustainable areas would be less controversial. Extract nitrogen for fertilizer.
Making +2 offspring so incredibly expensive that it would thwart plans (but run this thought publicly). Have ballistic ceramic and Kevlar handy.
What IS going to happen is a nightmare virus. A mutation. Totally unknown and unpredictable. Airborne pathogen. It will make past pandemics look like flu season. The laws of nature DEMANDS that such a virus evolve. It is a complex computation of the number of human laboratories, transmission viability and ease of travel. The PNEUmonic plague wiped out a third of Europe. Guess what? There are no inoculations, and no medication interventions and it's been 700+ years. The more and more common Marburg, Ebola, and Pneumonic plague outbreaks are bad Juju. Think of them as precursor earthquakes. Mother Nature is going to have its own "Wall Street Correction".

One of my unattainable dreams is to relax with a thick coffee table Atlas and Gazetteer. My quirk. When I had one I spent an incredible average of ten plus hours a week, examining it page by page, both the maps and the gazetteer. For YEARS. This would be like an addict inheriting a thousand acre opium poppy farm.
