I would believe that at some point Mother Nature will spring some virus on the multitudes and millions will succumb or some tyrant will get crazy with a thermonuclear device and the population will take a dramatic plunge, anything can (and will) happen. Just a matter of when and to what extent.
At my age, just waking up in the morning to a new day and new challanges is wonderful.
Irregardless, the price of fossil fuel (in one form or another), has a direct impact on my life at least. When it's inexpensive, I can use more of it than when it's costly.
Until some brain invents a perpetual motion machine, we are all indentured to it one way or another.
