RJfishin: I'm just over the hill and need a new converter. Do you install??? Just kidding, but I am going to need to get on with it and get a new converter. Right now I am using a battery charger that my late husband wired in, but I am having problems with the batteries under the hood as well as the battery for the housing part of the RV. Since I don't use it a lot I would like to find a good used one. I bought a used one just like the one that my hubby took out only to do a little research on the internet (isn't the internet wonderful, thank you Mr. Gore) and found that it kills batteries. Now I am back to looking for another one. Any thoughts would be great. I do shop on eBay. Next time you head to the dunes, wave as you go by!!!
Mama, I kinda wish I had landed nearer to where you are ???, cooler, closer to the C River, and closer to WB & HF dunes.
Like said, your converter is ok except in hot weather, and it don't get hot where you at. But if you ever want to change to a PD9245 w/ pendant, it is no harder to connect than a battery charger. In fact, swing on by, we'll install that puppy no problem ! ;) - RJsfishinExplorerOh, ok, I guess that's worth 50 bucks:E
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
RJ,
It charges only one way--so the chassis battery can't be drawn down by house loads.
It has pretty led's to let you know if it is charging the chassis battery or just siting idle.RJsfishin wrote:
I'm curious,
Except for being automatic, what will a $50 trik-L-start do that my $2 toggle switch connecting both bank's positives together won't do ?? - Nothing besides a perfect memory to always connect when appropriate.
And it will disconnect every time as needed to prevent discharge.
I suppose it also limits current to 5 amps so fuse is not really needed for basic install. - RJsfishinExplorerI'm curious,

I think everybody knows, that eBay has nothing to do with 'warranty'
that doesn't mean all eBay sellers are big dealers with over stock
and it doesn't mean they are reputable ..
Mr Wizzard,
Do you really know anything about ebay ??
Do you know that sellers have ratings ?
You show me an ebay seller w/ a 98-100% rating that is not reputable.
If there is a seller w/ a lesser rating, did you know that we don't buy from those ?
Did you know that unreputable sellers on ebay aren't there anymore.
I have sold over $20,000 on ebay in the last 2 yrs, I know how it all works, trust me ! - MM49ExplorerI would suggest that study and define your requirements. There are many choices of systems ahead. You might want to consider a inverter/charger/solar controller combo. I wouldn't assume that your RV was designed correctly from the OEM. I know that mine wasn't.
MM49 - The fixed voltage converter just kills end of life batteries and usually in the heat of summer. Install what you bought and enjoy it.
Might also be time to have the batteries tested and at least check the water.
+1 for Trik-L-Start to keep the chassis battery up. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi CharityMama,
When you replace the converter, add a trik-l-start for the chassis battery and the worries will be over. - charitysmamaExplorerRJfishin: I'm just over the hill and need a new converter.
